Eli Manning 'not gonna second-guess' retirement: 'I had my run'

For the first time in 16 years, Eli Manning is not spending his fall Sundays playing NFL football for the New York Giants. Now that Manning is officially retired but does he find himself missing football with a brand new season upon us? According to the man himself, the answer is a very happy "no."

"I'm good where I am," Manning said during an interview on "The Rich Eisen Show." "I made that decision in February. I'm not gonna look back. I'm not gonna second-guess. I wasn't working out for football and thinking there might be a comeback if someone called. I'd had enough and grateful for my time, but looking forward to this new way of life."

Having played in the NFL for nearly two decades, Manning unsurprisingly said that the unrelenting physical nature of the game eventually started to catch up with him and take a toll on his body, noting that he feels better both "physically" and "mentally." And while Manning did end up losing the Giants' job to Daniel Jones last season, he says he wasn't waiting by the phone hoping that another team would come calling.

"No, I think I was done," Manning said. "I had my run, I had my time. I enjoyed it. I have such great memories."

To be fair, it's pretty easy to have "great memories" when you have two Super Bowl wins to remember while you watch games at home, so it sounds like Manning will continue to enjoy his retirement for years to come.
