Linebacker Eric Kendricks remains the Dallas Cowboys' lone outside free agent addition almost two entire weeks into NFL free agency.

Fans now know what jersey number the only new guy causing some excitement is going to wear. And buckle up as we're going on a nostalgia trip.

Kendricks, who is likely going to be the communicator of Mike Zimmer's defense after playing for him from 2015-2021, will be rocking No. 50 on the gridiron for the 2024 season, per Patrik Walker from DallasCowboys.com.

That means Sean Lee's No. 50 will be back out there with a starter. Although Devin Harper also used it with the Cowboys, he played six games for the franchise so I'm not sure we're counting that.

Kendrick's new jersey number will sure make fans nostalgic as Lee, a fan favorite for over a decade, will always be one of the ultimate what if stories of the franchise. When healthy, he was a Hall of Fame-caliber player. But injuries consistently kept him off the field, playing only one 16-game season in his career despite three Pro Bowls and one year of First-Team All-Pro honors.

Hopefully, Kendricks delivers on expectations. The 32-year old linebacker is a smart player whose instincts still show up on film and his knowledge of Zimmer's defense will push the Cowboys forward after the franchise was forced to move on from Dan Quinn following his departure to be head coach of the Washington Commanders.

Kendricks had previously worn 54 with the Minnesota Vikings and 6 with the Los Angeles Chargers last season.

In more jersey news, Walker also reported safety Sheldrick Redwine is leaving No. 36 for No. 20, which Tony Pollard wore before heading to the Tennessee Titans.
