ESPN predicts Steelers cut pair of 2021 draft picks

There's still some time between now and cutdown day, but with just one day until players report to the Steelers training camp, predictions of what their 53-man roster will look like are making their rounds.

ESPN's Brooke Pryor joined in and she projects that Pittsburgh is going to part ways with a pair of selections from its 2021 NFL Draft class.

The first player is former third-rounder Kendrick Green, who seems to be on the outside looking in after the team beefed up the interior of its offensive line this offseason. He didn't appear in a single game last season after making 15 starts at center in 2021.

The Steelers also signed veteran center Mason Cole to a three-year, $15.75 million contract last offseason and he filled in nicely, allowing just two sacks in 2022, according to Pro Football Focus.

The second player is former seventh-round pick Pressley Harvin III, who hasn't lived up to the hype either. So much that Pittsburgh scooped up punter Braden Mann shortly after the Jets released him this offseason.

Harvin III did up his average yards per punt by about two yards in 2022 but his 44.5 average was still the ninth-worst amongst qualifying punters while Mann averaged 2.4 more yards per punt than Harvin III.

It will certainly be a battle to watch, but both cuts are realistic scenarios that could play out.

The Steelers have prided themselves on drafting and developing but Green and Harvin III could be added to their growing list of failed draft picks.
