Evan Engram, Christian Kirk have notable reactions to Jaguars tweet

If tweets from Evan Engram and Christian Kirk mean anything, it looks like the Jacksonville Jaguars are planning to place the franchise tag on the tight end.

The window for teams to apply the franchise tag to free agents opened Tuesday and will close on March 7. The Jaguars signed Engram to a one-year deal in March 2022, and the 28-year-old responded with the best season of his career.

While his 98 targets were healthy, they were only the third-most of his career and were a distant third on the team behind Kirk (133) and Zay Jones (121). Engram capitalized on his looks though, recording career highs in receptions (73), receiving yards (766) and catch percentage (74.5%), while posting four receiving touchdowns as well.

He went through a particularly hot stretch from Weeks 12 to 15, posting over 100 receiving yards twice and scoring three of his touchdowns, including a career-best effort in the team's crucial Week 13 win over the Tennessee Titans. Engram went off for 11 catches, 162 yards and two scores in the 36-22 victory and was a huge part of the team's 6-1 finish to the year (including two wins against the Titans) to snatch the AFC South crown away from its divisional foes.

The former first-round draft pick added 12 receptions for 124 yards and one touchdown in two playoff games.
