The Jacksonville Jaguars will officially have a new kicker in 2024.

Former kicker Brandon McManus agreed to terms with the Washington Commanders on a one-year, $3.6 million deal according to Jason McCourty, officially ending McManus' tenure in Jacksonville.

The Jaguars traded former starting kicker Riley Patterson to the Detroit Lions for a 2026 conditional seventh-round selection last May after they signed McManus.

McManus finished the 2023 season on an inconsistent note, making 30-of-37 field goals (81.1%) but going 5-of-10 from 50 yards or further. Five of McManus' seven missed field goals came in the final seven games of the season, including a potential missed game-winning field goal vs. the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night Football in Week 13 and two missed field goals vs. the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night Football in Week 15.

Jacksonville has seemingly foreshadowed parting ways with McManus at several different points this offseason. The Jaguars brought Patterson back last month on a reserve/futures contract, giving them insurance for this spring and training camp.

And then on Monday, the Jaguars attempted to sign Denver Broncos kicker Wil Lutz to a three-year deal. Lutz initially agreed to terms before backing out of the deal and agreeing to return to Denver.

With Lutz no longer an option and McManus officially out of the fold, the Jaguars will likely continue to look for a veteran kicker on the market. Available names include Nick Folk, Greg Joseph, Joey Slye, and Randy Bullock. And with five picks on Day 3, the Jaguars could also look to the 2024 NFL Draft.
