The Big Ten will look very different in 2024. That is largely due to the conference adding Oregon, Washington, USC, and UCLA. Additionally, Jim Harbaugh is no longer at Michigan, as he is now the head coach for the LA Chargers. Now, Penn State football has a chance to pounce on a former Michigan commit in the 2025 recruiting class. It’s interesting to watch the ripple effect of the coaching carousel in college football. The Nittany Lions have a chance to potentially land Chris Ewald as he has set an official visit with Penn State this summer.

Ex-Michigan 2025 commit sets official visit date with Penn State

Chris Ewald is a four-star prospect in the 2025 recruiting class, according to 247Sports, On3, and Rivals. He plays cornerback and is currently ranked the No. 17 CB in the country. A native of Hollywood, FL, Ewald has not been on the market for very long. After decomitting from Michigan in January, the Penn State football team has engaged with Ewald.

Now, the star cornerback has announced that he will be in Happy Valley on an official visit from June 21-23. But let’s take a look at the journey that Ewald has been on throughout his recruitment.

Reviewing Chris Ewald’s recruiting journey

The journey for Chris Ewald has been ongoing since 2022. He started making unofficial visits to Miami, Florida State, and several other local schools. It wasn’t until December of 2022 that he committed to the University of Michigan. He was committed to the Wolverines until January 15, 2024.

Since his decommitment, he has been offered by Deion Sanders and Colorado. Ewald has also visited Miami and Auburn unofficially and has official visits scheduled with Louisville and Penn State in June. While the Nittany Lions are competing against some of the top schools in the country, it would be a massive win to secure this former Michigan commitment to boost the 2025 secondary.
