Ex-Titans OT Taylor Lewan files lawsuit over botched first ACL surgery

For those wondering what the future holds for former Tennessee Titans Pro Bowl tackle Taylor Lewan, wonder no more.

During a recent episode of his podcast “Bussin’ with the Boys,” Lewan shared that he was filing a lawsuit against those involved with his 2020 ACL surgery, citing the procedure was done incorrectly.

“I’m in an unfortunate circumstance where I have had to file a lawsuit against the people/entities that are involved with my (ACL) surgery from October of 2020,” Lewan said. “…I wanted to take this opportunity on this podcast to let all of you know what’s going on in my life (and) fans that have followed my career — seeing those years before the ACL surgery and obviously after the ACL surgery, kind of wondering what the hell is happening with Lewan?”

Due to legal reasons, Lewan stated he could not divulge any more details about the ongoing case but that he wanted to be transparent with his fans listeners of his podcast.

Lewan admitted last year that he battled issues during the 2021 season following surgery to repair a right ACL tear from the previous season including regular swelling and frequent pain that were “a direct correlation to what happened when I got my knee done.”

Lewan’s first ACL surgery was in Oct. 2020, which sidelined him for the final 11 games of the Titans season. He returned the following year but still missed four games. Prior to the injury, Lewan averaged four sacks, 2.5 hits and 19 pressures allowed per season. Post-injury he allowed four sacks, five hits and 22 pressures in just 13 games.

The Titans cut Lewan in February after nine seasons and three Pro Bowls. The move saved Tennessee $14.8 million against the cap.
