Former Golden State Warriors general manager Bob Myers has landed a new job, and this one has nothing to do with basketball.

Myers has been hired by the Washington Commanders to assist in the team’s search for a new head coach and new head of football operations, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Adrian Wojnarowski. Former Minnesota Vikings general manager Rick Spielman will also join the Commanders to help with the overhaul.

The Commanders on Monday announced that they have fired head coach Ron Rivera. Washington finished 4-13 this season, which marked their third losing season in four years under Rivera.

Commanders owner Josh Harris has tasked Myers with leading the team in identifying candidates and coordinating interviews, Washington officials told ESPN. Limited partners Mitch Rates, Magic Johnson and David Blitzer will also be part of the advisory committee.

With new ownership in place and Daniel Snyder no longer in the picture, the Commanders job is expected to draw significant interest. Washington has the No. 2 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, so they will be in a position to draft a top quarterback.

Myers, 48, stepped down from his position as president and general manager of the Warriors last summer. The two-time NBA Executive of the Year helped assemble a roster that won four championships. He has since taken a job with a broadcasting network.
