Expert believes unlikely WR could rise up draft boards

There are still about two months left for players to raise their draft stocks ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft, which begins on Apr. 25. But NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah believes one unlikely player could start seeing his star rise a whole lot sooner.

"Typing in my notes from CB class and keep seeing this on my paper- struggled vs McConkey," Jeremiah posted on platform X.

Jeremiah is talking about Georgia WR Ladd McConkey, who hasn't even been mentioned in several of the experts' latest mock drafts.

That may be because the 22-year-old had just 30 catches for 478 yards and two touchdowns in 2023.

McConkey's best season came in 2022 when he had 58 receptions for 762 yards and seven touchdowns. But that still doesn't compare to some of the stat lines of other prospects in the draft.

That doesn't seem to matter, however, as the 6-foot, 185-pound wide receiver proved to be one of the best route runners in the country on a weekly basis, even drawing comparisons to Rams All-Pro WR Cooper Kupp.

That's some big company to be in before even taking a snap in the NFL, but this wide receiver class seems to be special.

In fact, Jeremiah thinks the wide receiver class may just produce the top three players in this year's draft.

"If you ignore positional value, you can make a strong argument the top 3 players in this draft are WR's," Jeremiah posted on platform X.

Jeremiah is likely talking about Ohio State's Marvin Harrison Jr., LSU's Malik Nabers and Washington's Rome Odunze.

But if McConkey continues to show out at the NFL Scouting Combine next week and his Georgia Pro Day, he may just guarantee to hear his name called on night one.

Either way, one team could be getting a steal in McConkey in a draft that seems to be very rich with wide receiver talent.
