Experts predicting Colts to upset Chiefs in Week 3?

On paper, the Week 3 matchup between the 2-0 Kansas City Chiefs and 0-1-1 Indianapolis Colts held at Lucas Oil Stadium seems to be a mismatch in favor of the visitors.

Per ESPN stats, the Chiefs will enter the weekend tied for second in the NFL in scoring and averaging 35.5 points per game. The Colts, meanwhile, are dead last and averaging 10.0 points coming off last Sunday's 24-0 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Both ESPN's Adam Teicher and NFL Media's DeAngelo Hall nevertheless offered reasons to believe Indianapolis could be on the cusp of a major upset win.

"Colts quarterback Matt Ryan will throw as many touchdown passes as Chiefs signal-caller Patrick Mahomes," Teicher predicted. "The Colts have been a difficult puzzle for Mahomes. In two career games against Indianapolis (including playoffs), Mahomes has one TD pass, eight sacks and a QBR of 56.3."

Additionally, Hall thinks the Colts will force the Kansas City offense into committing three turnovers en route to Indianapolis posting a shocking victory.

ESPN numbers point out that Mahomes currently leads the entire league among eligible quarterbacks with a 127.9 passer rating. He's third with an 82.2 total QBR, tied for first with seven touchdowns through the air, is fifth with an average of 8.0 yards per pass attempt, and has done all of that without throwing a single interception across two games.

To compare, the previously mentioned Ryan is 31st with a 63.9 passer rating and 26th with a 31.4 total QBR. He's matched just one passing touchdown with four interceptions.

To steal the phrase, though: That's why they play the game.
