It wasn’t that long ago that Ezekiel Elliott was running wild in Columbus with Ohio State every Saturday in the fall.

Elliott is going back to where it started in the NFL by beginning his second stint with the Dallas Cowboys.

This time around with the Cowboys, things are going to actually look a bit different for Elliott. The former Pro Bowl running back is going back to the No. 15 jersey that he wore at Ohio State, instead of the No. 21 that he wore his first time in Dallas.

Elliott wore No. 15 his three seasons in Columbus when he totaled 3,961 rushing yards and 43 touchdowns as a Buckeye. Elliott had 1,878 rushing yards as a sophomore when Ohio State won a national championship.

To make the number switch happen, Elliott was able to get Trey Lance to switch to No. 19.

After being the No. 4 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, Elliott went on to play for the Cowboys for seven seasons before they parted ways and he spent the 2023 season with the New England Patriots.

Elliott isn’t going to lead the league in rushing like he once did any longer, but he will give Dallas a capable running black again that can stay on the field for three downs. With it just being a one-year deal for Elliott, he could be finding a new home in just a year.

When we see Elliott rubbing this fall, it may remind us of his time with Ohio State with the jersey number he is wearing. It’ll be the second season that Elliott has worn that number in the NFL after wearing it with the Patriots last year.
