The Falcons are adding some size to the offense after signing former Raiders wideout Mack Hollins to a one-year deal, per Taylor Vippolis.
Outside of Drake London, the Falcons had exactly zero experienced receivers, enter Mack Hollins.
Stop me if you’ve heard this before: Atlanta added a big-bodied pass catcher. Hollins stands 6’4” and weighs 220 pounds, which has become a calling card of Arthur Smith and Terry Fontenot. Moreover, he profiles well in the Falcons’ offense — good blocker/possession receiver.
It might not be the sexiest signing, but Hollins is the exact type of receiver the Falcons will be targeting. He’s a physical pass catcher that will contribute in the run game and threaten after the catch.
He’s coming off a career-best year with the Raiders after spending much of his career as a special teams contributor and reserve receiver but was finally given a full-time role in Las Vegas. Hollins was targeted 94 times, hauling in 57 catches for 690 yards and four touchdowns last season.
In a run heavy offense, the Falcons likely aren’t going to give the WR2 94 targets, especially with Kyle Pitts and Jonnu Smith in the fold. At most, Hollins will be the fourth option in the offense. Before the Raiders, he spent time with the Eagles and Dolphins; he was a special teams ace, especially in Miami. Even if the Falcons add to the receiver room, Hollins will still prove valuable in the third phase of the game.
