According to Ian Rapoport, the Falcons are signing linebacker Tae Davis, continuing their free agency shopping spree.
Atlanta’s linebacking core, as currently constructed, would be Troy Andersen, Kaden Elliss, Mykal Walker, Nathan Landman, Dorian Etheridge, and now Tae Davis.
Most recently, Davis spent time with the Browns after spending the first two years of his career with the Giants. Davis’ best season came during his rookie year, starting four games and posting 26 solo tackles, two tackles for loss, and two sacks. It was an encouraging start for only playing 35% of New York’s defensive snaps in 2018.
Davis never eclipsed double-digit tackle numbers outside of his rookie year, but he’s not going to be expected to be starting next to Troy Andersen for the Falcons. The Chattanooga product will provide depth and likely be a core special teamer; he’s accumulated at least 50% of his snaps in the third phase every year since entering the league.
