Falcons DE celebrates career milestone with big-time donations

The six-time Pro Bowler took down Washington Commanders quarterback Sam Howell during the second quarter of Atlanta's Week 6 tilt to reach the milestone. Now, Campbell and his CRC Foundation are making the monetary donations to teachers across the country through the Kids in Need Foundation.

Per senior Falcons content producer Tori McElhaney, the 37-year-old's efforts will help "100 teachers nationwide, 25 in each of the cities he's played professional football in." Each teacher will receive $500 to use for their classrooms, per McElhaney's report, and an additional $20,000 will be sent to teachers in Denver (where Campbell went to high school) and Miami (he attended the University of Miami).

"I've always been someone that success is best shared with the people you love," Campbell said in a press release, per McElhaney. "Football is an amazing job because it brings communities together. That's why I want to share this milestone with the special communities that cheered for me and supported me throughout my career. I want to share this moment with them because teachers are the most important part of any community."

The former First-Team All-Pro and Walter Payton Man of the Year award winner was selected in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals and spent the first nine years of his career in the desert. Campbell played in his first and only Super Bowl during his rookie season (making two tackles in the loss) and later earned his first two Pro Bowls with the Cardinals in 2014 and 2015.

He had his most dominant stretch with the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2017-19, making three straight Pro Bowls and earning First-Team All-Pro honors in 2017. Campbell set career highs that year in quarterback hits (30), sacks (14.5) and forced fumbles (three) and finished as the AP Defensive Player of the Year runner-up.

He played three seasons with the Baltimore Ravens from 2020-22 before signing with the Falcons in March.

Campbell ranks second among all active players in career tackles for loss (167), fourth in games played (233) and sixth in sacks (100.0).
