The Falcons have bolstered the depth of the roster with the recent signings of Mike Hughes, Cornell Armstrong, Tae Davis, and Mack Hollins. And they’re continuing their search for role players after hosting Jessie Bates’ former Bengals teammate Tre Flowers on a free agent visit.

The 27-year-old played his first three seasons in Seattle before being waived by the Seahawks in 2021 and picked up by the Bengals. He stayed in Cincinnati for two seasons and is available to sign now.

The former fifth-round pick entered the league in 2018 as a safety but transitioned to cornerback, starting 15 games as a rookie. The Oklahoma State product had his role dwindled in 2020, only starting seven games.

With Cincinnati, Flowers played in 26 games across a season and a half, playing in only 17% of the team’s defensive snaps last season. He did, however, have a prominent role in the third phase of the game, logging 63% of the special teams snaps for the Bengals last year. Flowers totaled 27 tackles, three passes defended, and one interception in 2022.

The Falcons are very clearly looking to find depth pieces that can impact games on special teams. The signings of Mike Hughes, Cornell Armstrong, Tae Davis, and Mack Hollins are examples of that. Falcons fans can expect similar signings for the rest of the offseason until the roster rounds into form.
