The Falcons have made a corresponding roster move to the news over the weekend that the front office waived Deadrin Senat, who played in 15 games his rookie season but was only active for seven games over the next two seasons. The Falcons signed former Texans’ running back D’Onta Foreman, released Tyler Hall, and activated Willie Wright and Kaleb McGary to the active roster.

Senat was never going to make this team with a new regime as he was likely being strung along by the former regime because they drafted him. Hall was always going to be on the fringe of the roster, but the more notable news is Foreman and McGary. The latter’s return is much needed after the Falcons trotted out Willie Beavers to start at right tackle at the open scrimmage this past weekend in the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. His presence along the offensive line doesn’t move the needle, but he’s likely the best option the Falcons have at right tackle. Hopefully, this will kick Jalen Mayfield back inside to compete at guard.

On to Foreman, who is still a young man — just 25 years old. His injury history is concerning, even though he put up 327 yards and two touchdowns in ten games in his rookie year in Houston. Clearly, Arthur Smith has a type. Mike Davis, Qadree Ollison , Caleb Huntley, and Foreman are all hard-nosed runners with a lot of power — similar to Derrick Henry. There will be fierce competition at the running back position now, and I could potentially see Arthur Smith electing to keep more than just four of them at this point.
