Atlanta Falcons offensive tackle Jake Matthews has been the definition of an ironman over his nine-year career.

Since being selected with the No. 6 pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, Matthews has missed just one game (Week 2 of that season) over that span, while being at the forefront of this Atlanta offensive line.

While his production has flown under the radar for most of his career, the 31-year-old was named an honorable mention in ESPN's ranking of top offensive tackles by executives, coaches and scouts.

"Somebody that has played at such a high level like Jake for so long for us up front, to have him to be able to give the example up front of how to go to work, how to prepare, how to go out there and do the things that we're asking him to do," offensive line coach Dwayne Ledford said last season. "It's a blessing for me as a coach to have a veteran like Jake in that meeting room, because he's done nothing but everything we've asked of him and having him is a huge asset."

A one-time Pro Bowler in 2018, Matthews is currently tied with Falcons Ring of Honor member Sam McClure for the second-longest streak of starts in franchise history with 144 - also the best active mark in the NFL.

And while he may continue to be underappreciated, Matthews availability to be healthy for this Falcons offense is undoubtedly his best ability.
