Falcons place cornerback A.J. Terrell on reserve/COVID list

Atlanta Falcons cornerback A.J. Terrell will be the first NFL player this season to miss a game because of the coronavirus.

Atlanta announced Saturday that Terrell has been placed on the reserve/COVID list and is out for Sunday's home game against the Chicago Bears.

The NFL did not have a positive test in its latest round of testing, and it's currently unclear if Terrell tested positive or came into contact with the virus.

Terrell was a first-round pick out of Clemson in 2020 and recorded 11 combined tackles in his first two games for the 0-2 Falcons. The 22-year-old earned his spot on the Falcons roster after an impressive training camp against the likes of Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley.

Atlanta is coming off an epic defensive collapse against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 2. The Falcons also let up 38 points in their season-opener against Seattle, so losing Terrell won't help their defensive issues.
