Atlanta Falcons running back Todd Gurley has a lot to prove after being released by the Los Angeles Rams and signing a one-year prove-it deal this spring. And based on recent comments he made, he’s absolutely determined to do just that.

Gurley was part of a YouTube discussion with Cleveland Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham, former New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz and recently signed New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton.

The guys were discussing what they have been doing this offseason, which of course has been dominated by the COVID-19 pandemic.

When it was his turn to talk, Gurley made it clear he’s been hitting the gym more than ever before: “I’m not even going to lie, I haven’t worked out this much in my life. I mean, it literally hasn’t been nothing to do but to work out.”

Todd Gurley has a history of injuries

The reason Gurley was released by the Rams and had to resort to a one-year contract this offseason is that he’s been beset by a troubling knee injury. Multiple reports indicate he is actually suffering from chronic arthritis in one of his knees.

The Falcons even admitted earlier this year that they didn’t know exactly how effective he will be this coming season due to his knee injury.

The good news is that this offseason, his knee appears to be strong as he prepares for the coming season.

When healthy, Todd Gurley puts up elite stats

If Gurley really is healthy this coming season, he has a chance to provide the Falcons with some serious firepower.

Before his knee injury cropped up, this guy was one of the NFL’s elite running backs. From 2017-18, he piled up 3,924 yards and 40 touchdowns from scrimmage — truly stunning stats.
