With the first wave of free agency over, the Falcons are now rounding out the roster.

Over the weekend, Terry Fontenot brought Ray-Ray McCloud to Atlanta on a two-year deal, along with re-signing Storm Norton and Khadarel Hodge. All three should prove to be critical depth pieces, but the Falcons roster still has holes.

Atlanta’s secondary could use another body, both at corner and safety, potentially even a starting-caliber player at each position. Moreover, the edge unit could also use some bolstering. A starting-caliber edge defender seems more pressing than any other need from where I stand, but that depends on how the Falcons feel about Lorenzo Carter.

The veteran could easily be upgraded, but the team may see him as a viable starter. In my opinion, he should be viewed as a rotational player at best. We’ll see where they go from here.

The interior defensive line is in better shape but still needed a depth piece or two, and we got one of them on Monday. The team announced that they’ve re-signed Kentavius Street.

He was acquired from the Eagles, and he registered 14 tackles in five games with the Falcons. He had a career-high eight quarterback hits with the Saints in 2022.

In a little game of buy or sell, I bought Street returning to Atlanta because he showed some chops during his 2023 stint with the team and the position needed capable depth.

Look for the Falcons to continue to fill out the bottom of the roster as the offseason progresses.
