As veterans report to Flowery Branch today, Falcons training camp is set to begin, but not before a free agent signing. A.J. Terrell mentioned to members of the media that he had seen veteran tight end MyCole Pruitt in the locker room, which was quickly followed by confirmation the club had signed him, according to Jeremy Fowler.

Pruitt has spent much of the last five years with the Titans but suffered a gruesome injury in Week 17 to end the 2021 season. However, the veteran caught on in Atlanta, where he quietly had a very productive season.

He was the co-leader on the team with four touchdowns, despite only hauling in 16 total receptions for 150 yards. Pruitt played himself into another contract. He was reliable as a receiver and blocker, regularly slipping through defenses in the red zone.

This bolsters an already formidable Falcons tight end room that includes Kyle Pitts, Jonnu Smith, Parker Hesse, and now Pruitt. I would expect all four to make the roster, which means the Feleipe Franks experiment could finally be over.

With Taylor Heinicke in the fold and four tight ends, there’s no obvious role for the former collegiate quarterback turned tight end. The writing is on the wall, but then again, it was there every other offseason, but Arthur Smith continued to keep Franks around.

Regardless, welcome back to Atlanta MyCole Pruitt!
