The Atlanta Falcons have traded quarterback Desmond Ridder to the Arizona Cardinals for wide receiver Rondale Moore, according to Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports.

So, apparently, Ridder did have some value after all.

The move comes after the Falcons signed Kirk Cousins in free agency, ending Ridder’s short stint as Atlanta’s starting quarterback.

Ridder, who played his collegiate football at the University of Cincinnati, was selected by the Falcons in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

He made four starts during his rookie campaign, throwing for 708 yards and a couple of touchdowns while completing 63.5 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 86.4.

This past year, Ridder played in 15 games and made 13 starts, totaling 2,836 yards, 12 touchdowns and 12 interceptions while completing 64.2 percent of his throws and registering a passer rating of 83.4.

The 24-year-old battled for the starting job with Taylor Heinicke throughout the season, but neither player inspired any confidence for Atlanta.

Now, Ridder will head to the Cardinals, where he will serve as the backup to Kyler Murray.

Moore is a second-round pick of Arizona’s from 2021 and has been a fairly big disappointment since entering the league.

He hauled in 54 receptions for 435 yards and one touchdown during his rookie campaign and followed that up by catching 41 passes for 414 yards and a score in his sophomore season.

Moore, 23, continued his regression this past year, snaring 40 balls for 352 yards while reaching the end zone once.

Perhaps a change of scenery is best for both Desmond Ridder and Moore.
