Well, that didn’t take too long. On just the Chicago Bears’ second play of the season against the Los Angeles Rams Sunday evening, rookie quarterback Justin Fields took to the field and completed a nine-yard pass.

Unfortunately for Bears fans, Andy Dalton ended that drive with an interception. The next two Bears possessions included a turnover on downs and a lost fumble from Mr. Dalton himself.

As we saw during the preseason, Chicago Bears fans want Fields to start over Dalton. After just one quarter of the regular season, it appears that the rest of the NFL world agreed.

Fans already calling on Justin Fields to replace Andy Dalton

Why isn’t Justin Fields starting?

That’s the million-dollar question right now. There’s not one objective observer who believes Dalton gives Chicago a better chance to win than his younger counterpart.

It’s maddening at this point, especially after how the likes of fellow rookies Mac Jones, Zach Wilson and Trey Lance looked on Sunday. It’s also questionable given that Bears head coach Matt Nagy and general manager Ryan Pace are clearly on the hot seat.

There’s a chance that Chicago doesn’t want to throw Fields out there behind a questionable offensive line. After all, Dalton was hit three times and sacked once in the first quarter Sunday night. Even then, this is getting comical.
