Fans who fell on FedEx Field deny WFT statement they were offered medical evaluation

The Washington Football Team said in a statement Sunday night that the group of fans who tumbled on to the field due to the stands collapsing were "offered onsite medical evaluation and left the stadium of their own accord." But the fans who fell say that's not the case.

"They didn't ask if anyone was hurt, and they sure as hell didn't ask if anybody needed medical attention," Andrew Collins told Tim McManus of ESPN. "The only thing the staff said to us was to get the 'F' off the field."

Another fan, Mike Naimoli, also told ESPN the only thing he heard was "everybody get the 'F' off the field" before he was "shooed up into the stands."

Both Collins and Naimoli described injuries suffered by the fall, as did a third fan, Morgan French, who said she has substantial leg bruising. French told ESPN "the security guard literally pulled me up by my two arms and got me off the field."

Earlier in the 2021 season during a game against the Los Angeles Chargers, video on social media showed liquid leaking from the ceiling of FedEx Field on to the heads of fans. While people could be heard saying "it's sewage" in the videos, the Washington Football Team said it was from a storage tank filled with rain water.

An NFL spokesperson says the league is reviewing the latest incident to ensure it doesn't happen again, according to ESPN.
