Jahmyr Gibbs and the Detroit Lions offense have been one of the brighter parts of the season for an otherwise struggling NFC North division.

Jahmyr Gibbs’s touch limit

When Gibbs was drafted with the twelfth overall pick in the NFL Draft, there were high expectations from the explosive running back.  Over the first four weeks of the season, fantasy owners who had running back Gibbs were unhappy after coach Dan Campbell intentionally limited the touches of Gibbs to try to keep the first-round pick out of Alabama fresh for the second half of the season.

It certainly didn’t help the usage of Gibbs that starting running back David Montgomery has performed exceptionally well, averaging 4.9 yards per carry with a total of 8 rushing touchdowns this season.

Montgomery’s Injury opens the door to running back Gibbs

After an injury in mid-October hampered Montgomery, the reins were taken off of Gibbs, and he has really exploded onto the scene in a big way.  In the past four games, Gibbs has been averaging just shy of 20 points per game in the standard format, an exceptional accomplishment for a running back late in the season.  It’s also worth noting that one of those games was against the elite Baltimore defense.

Weakened Packers Defense

It is important to note that Gibbs will be playing against a Packers defense that has struggled to stop the run all season.  The defensive front has struggled and is currently ranked 24th in scoring against running backs, setting Gibbs up for a monster game.
