Brett Favre suddenly a "media guy'' now, which seems strange enough. But "media guys'' on TV have a job to do ... and so inevitably Favre was going to be required to serve up a hot take on the Seattle Seahawks trade of Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos.

And yes, the Hall of Fame quarterback has obliged, discussing the topic of Wilson on Jason Whitlock's "Fearless" over the weekend.

"There's a reason,'' Favre opined, "Seattle got rid of him."

That's not particularly notable. But Favre said two other things about Wilson - who was a Super Bowl hero in Seattle until ... well, until he wasn't - that deserve mention.

First, Favre's full remark that includes his evaluation of Wilson's ability: "There's a reason why Seattle got rid of him or parted ways with him. It's not that his play has declined, he's still got a lot left in the tank. ... But there's a reason they parted ways, as much good as he had done in Seattle.''

In other words, Wilson can still play ... which is certainly the hope of the Broncos, who gave up two first-round picks, two second-round picks, and a fifth-round pick and more to get Russ. ... Oh, and they also gave him a massive five-year, $245 million extension as part of the deal last offseason.

But ... second, Favre's thoughts on what exactly the problem is that led Wilson to a 2022 effort that marks by far the worst season of his NFL career: "Maybe he was preoccupied with other things ... If he is preoccupied with his 'brand' during football season, that's hurting everyone else.

What we don't know: Does Favre actually have insight here? Or is he just regurgitating something new Denver coach Sean Payton was recently reveals to have said in an order to Wilson to "quit kissing babies'' ... another way of saying "quit worrying about your brand''?

Whatever the problem is now in Denver, what could go down as one of the worst trades in NFL history is no longer the problem of the Seattle Seahawks.
