First red-zone touchdown of season fuels Broncos victory

The first red-zone touchdown of the season fueled the Broncos' 11-10 victory over the 49ers. The low score was indicative of lousy play. It was a game of penalties, turnovers, incompletions and three-and-outs.

Cris Collinsworth summarized the Broncos' offensive performance perfectly.

"This offense has stunk," said Collinsworth during the NBC telecast.

The sellout crowd booed nearly every Broncos sputtering drive. 14 drives only resulted in points twice — a field goal and a touchdown late in the fourth quarter. A lucky safety happened when Niner quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo accidentally stepped out of bounds in the endzone, gifting the Broncos an additional two points.

Denver's defense did its job, forcing three turnovers -- two fumbles and an interception. By holding the 49ers to 10 points, it was sufficient to secure a victory for the 2-1 Broncos (2-1).

Russell Wilson finally showed his true potential on a key fourth-quarter drive making two critical plays. Including a dash for a crucial first down and a 27-yard dart to Kendall Hinton that saved the drive leading to the Melvin Gordon III touchdown.
