Fletcher Cox reveals what he respects most about Jalen Hurts

Jalen Hurts has been praised by many after leading the Philadelphia Eagles to the Super Bowl behind an MVP-caliber season in 2022. However, teammate and all-time Eagles great Fletcher Cox recently revealed what he respects most about the emerging superstar.

Appearing on the "Green Light" podcast hosted by former Eagle Chris Long, Cox said Hurts' calm demeanor impresses him most.

"Whether it's good or bad, or it could get ugly. He stays calm; he remains the same," Cox said. "That's what I respect about Jalen."

While it could be easy to buy into the hype created by last year's emergence, Hurts' demeanor on the field and the locker room has stayed the same, according to Cox.

"His main goal is to be the best quarterback and the best teammate he can be," Cox said. "Me and Jalen have talks all the time just about little stuff — it's only his second year really being a starting quarterback. I'm excited to watch him keep growing."

Amid an offseason of upheaval on the Eagles defense, they kept a few core players, including Cox, who inked a one-year, $10 million deal in March. However, his return to Philly wasn't a sure thing.

Cox admitted that old friend Joe Douglas, now general manager of the New York Jets, courted him hard in free agency. Ultimately, Cox couldn't see himself wearing any other uniform.

"I'm excited to be back.

It came down to really some decision-making and talking to family. It was close," Cox said. "But at the same time, I wanted to stay home. I wanted to be here in Philly and finish this thing in the city of Philadelphia."
