Former All-Pro LB: Micah Parsons 'needs to go to a leadership school'

Few would argue against Dallas Cowboys edge-rusher Micah Parsons being one of the three best players at his position.

However, if there’s one criticism of Parsons, it’s that he sometimes pays too much attention to what’s being said about himself and the rest of the Cowboys defense by reporters and through social media.

For that reason, former New York Jets All-Pro linebacker Bart Scott called Parsons too sensitive during a recent appearance on ESPN’s “Get Up.”

“Is he a great player? Yes. But just because you’re a great player don’t mean you’re a great leader,” Scott said. "He needs to go to a leadership school and learn how to lead by example and quit talking so much and being so damn sensitive. You’re a linebacker; that’s supposed to be a tough guy spot. He’s the most sensitive guy I’ve ever seen. He responds to everything. Get off of social media, quit tweeting, quit talking about responding, and go about your business, man.”

There’s plenty of evidence to support Scott’s remarks as Parsons has a reputation for clapping back at anyone who criticizes himself or any other Cowboys players.

The 24-year-old Parsons has a longstanding feud with Fox Sports analyst Skip Bayless, who’s been overly critical of the Cowboys on several occasions.

He also got into a spat over social media with former New England Patriots star Rob Gronkowski in December. Parsons took a shot at 49ers QB Brock Purdy on X — a decision Gronkowski called weird, stating, “Losers focus on winners and winners focus on winning.”

Parsons also got into a public confrontation with 49ers tight end George Kittle in October. Kittle wore a “[expletive] Dallas” shirt underneath his jersey when the two teams played on Oct. 8 — a game San Francisco won 42-10 — prompting Parsons to rant about it on his podcast the following day.
