Former All-Pro WR Josh Gordon clears waivers, likely heading to Chiefs practice squad

The Kansas City Chiefs clinched a berth in Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the Cincinnati Bengals via a pair of playoff wins and did so without the services of former All-Pro wide receiver Josh Gordon, who was a healthy scratch over the last two weekends of NFL action before the Chiefs surprisingly waived him on Monday.

It was reported at the time the Chiefs would add Gordon to their practice squad later this week, if possible. Per Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk, Gordon has officially cleared waivers and, thus, is expected to re-sign with the Chiefs' practice squad ahead of championship weekend.

Gordon joined the Chiefs in late September after he was reinstated from his latest suspension related to violations of the NFL's substance-abuse policy, but the 30-year-old mostly underwhelmed playing alongside superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Across 12 regular-season games, Gordon tallied five catches for 32 yards and a touchdown on 14 targets.

Gordon's best season occurred in 2013 when he recorded 87 receptions for 1,646 yards and nine touchdowns as a member of the Cleveland Browns. It's unknown if the Chiefs would activate him for next month's Super Bowl.
