Former Bears RB Tarik Cohen suffers apparent injury during livestreamed workout

Free-agent running back Tarik Cohen may have suffered yet another costly injury setback in his attempt to find a new NFL home.

As noted by The Associated Press (h/t ESPN) and Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk, Cohen was live-streaming a training session via his Instagram account when he went down and grabbed the back of his leg and/or ankle during an agility drill. While it's far too early to say, the concern is he has some sort of Achilles injury that could essentially sideline him indefinitely.

Cohen entered the NFL when the Chicago Bears selected him in the fourth round of the 2017 draft and has only played for that franchise since. He earned First-Team All-Pro honors for the 2018 season but suffered a serious knee injury in the third game of the fall of 2020. He never returned to action that season, and issues related to the problem prevented him from playing at all during the 2021 campaign.

Cohen was reportedly unable to pass a physical when the Bears released him in March.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported at that time Cohen was hoping to be ready to play by Week 1 this coming September. It's now unclear if the 26-year-old will be able to take the field anytime soon.
