Former Bengals All-Pro DT Geno Atkins visiting with Seahawks
Former Cincinnati Bengals All-Pro defensive tackle Geno Atkins is visiting with the Seattle Seahawks Monday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Atkins is fully recovered from rotator cuff surgery. If he signs with the Seahawks, he would reunite with defensive end Carlos Dunlap. Both players were staples in the Cincinnati defense from 2011-15.
The Bengals selected Atkins in the fourth round of the 2010 draft. He played 96 consecutive games before suffering a shoulder injury last August that sidelined him for half the season.
Atkins likely wouldn't be a starter for the Seahawks, but he would provide the defense with much more depth. He can also make up for some of the interior pass rush potential that Seattle lost with the departure of Jarran Reed.
The 33-year-old would also give the Seahawks a more stable presence when Al Woods and Poona Ford need a break.
Atkins was cleared for football activity more than a month ago, so he should find a home relatively soon. If it's not with the Seahawks, another team will surely give him a chance.
