A week after being on the opposite end of a game-ending field goal, former Cincinnati Bengals quarterback AJ McCarron was on the right side of the late-game heroics this weekend.

McCarron, the reigning XFL MVP QB of the St. Louis Battlehawks, quarterbacked his way to St. Louis' first UFL victory Saturday in a 27-24 victory over the Arlington Renegades. It happened in front of a record-setting largest crowd for a pro football game played in the Spring as 40,317 fans were in attendance.

McCarron gave the folks what they came to see as he threw for 248 yards on 19-29 passing. He connected with wide receiver Marcell Ateman twice for touchdowns, including a 53-yard score in the second half.

St. Louis needed all the points it could get as four lead changes took place in the final two quarters.

McCarron is also not alone as the only former member of the Bengals. Running backs coach and special teams coordinator Kyle Caskey was a Bengals assistant from 2010-18, many of those years coinciding with McCarron's time with the team as well.

The Battlehawks are 1-1 on the season as McCarron and Caskey look to surge up the standings over the next two months.
