Former Cowboys star offers insight into Dak Prescott's interception problem

Former Cowboys star DeMarcus Ware believes Dak Prescott is trying to place too much responsibility on his shoulders, which caused him to fall into troublesome situations such as interceptions.

When USA Today recently interviewed and asked him why Prescott's interception total increased, he said, "The mentality of Dak is ... I have to try to make plays ... instead of just playing the management game."
Prescott appeared to overcompensate in 12 starts this season, throwing a career-high 15 interceptions — tying Houston's Davis Mills for the league lead.

While Prescott is a little interception-prone, throwing 10 or more interceptions four times in seven seasons, his high rate raises concerns. Per Statmuse, Prescott has a 3.8% interception rate, much higher than his career average (2%).

Perhaps Prescott is pressing too much because he feels the pressure to win a championship.

Despite showing tremendous potential at the beginning of his career--winning 2016 AP Offensive Rookie of The Year — Prescott has a 1-3 playoff record.

"Unless Prescott pulls off a playoff run over the next month that ends the Cowboys 26-year Super Bowl drought, he will have to fight through the unending question of if he can deliver," wrote ESPN's Todd Archer.
Dallas QBs who failed to meet the challenge reside in the back pages of the Cowboy's history book.

Former Cowboys QB Tony Romo is the franchise's all-time passing TD leader (248), but he never won a Super Bowl and is not in the Pro Hall of Fame.

The pressure likely weighs on Prescott, so he should take Ware's advice and relax.

While there is a great deal of pressure, there's also a great opportunity. Dallas can end the championship dry spell this season. Per Oddschecker, it has the sixth-best Super Bowl odds.
