Amid Josh Jacobs’ holdout, the Raiders have acted and addressed their backfield void, adding some insurance in the form of ex-Falcons veteran Damien Williams, his agent announced via social media.

Williams hasn’t had the most impressive career if you’re a box score watcher, but he’s been a part of some high-profile teams and had big moments on the biggest stages. In 2019, he racked up a career-high 498 yards but showed up when it matters most, putting up 290 total yards and scoring six total touchdowns in the 2019 postseason, including a 104-yard and two-touchdown performance in Super Bowl LIV.

Unfortunately, that was the peak of his career. Since then, he’s spent time with the Bears and Falcons, garnering just 42 carries over that period. With Atlanta, he was primed for a significant role but only played in one game, carrying the ball twice for two yards before suffering a rib injury, and spending most of the season on injured reserve before being released.

Williams has rushed for 1,397 yards and 14 touchdowns and caught 154 passes for 1,209 yards and 11 scores in 98 games across his career. The Raiders are getting an experienced and versatile running back. He’s no Josh Jacobs, but he’s a solid player.
