The Falcons recently announced their 2022 Bill Walsh Coaching Diversity Fellowship coaches, and one is a former player who had a successful career in Atlanta. The six coaches are Harry Douglas, Antreal Allen, Holman Copeland, Ryan Davis, Mickey Grace and Deron Wilson — who will work with the coaching staff this offseason.

Some of these coaches’ stories are actually quite interesting. Grace currently works as an offensive analyst with Connecticut, but she was also a scouting apprentice for the Rams. It’s a challenging profession to break into as a female, but this is Grace’s second time in the Bill Walsh Fellowship. Hopefully, this is her chance to break through the gender barrier and contribute at the professional level.

However, the most notable fellow is Douglas, a third-round pick from the 2008 Falcons draft class. Most people will remember him for his 2013 season, when he recorded 85 receptions for 1,067 yards and two touchdowns in the absence of Julio Jones and Roddy White. Douglas was a more than reliable third receiver for six seasons.

He finished his career with 310 receptions for 3,759 yards and ten touchdowns over a decade in the league and transitioned to the commentary side of football. Douglas has appeared on ESPN recently but also on the Falcons Radio Network, Atlanta’s 92.9 radio station, and Fox 5 Rise Up Tonight.

It’s an exciting opportunity for this group, and it’s also exciting for Falcons fans to see someone like Harry Douglas back in Atlanta.
