Former Giants star makes brash claim about Daniel Jones and Dak Prescott

As Dallas and New York prepare for a highly anticipated matchup on Sunday, a former Giants star took a shot at Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.

"I'll take Daniel Jones over Dak Prescott 100 out of 100 times," Tiki Barber — who played for New York from 1997 to 2006 — said Wednesday on WFAN-FM in New York. "As crazy as it sounds, I have no idea who Dak Prescott is going to be next year, and I know who Daniel Jones is going to be, there is only growth ahead of him."

Last season, Jones had a career year. The 26-year-old led the Giants to their first playoff appearance since 2016 with a 9-6-1 starting record. He also completed a career-high 67.2 percent of his passes and posted a 62.9 QBR — sixth in the league in 2022.

While Prescott threw 23 TDs in 12 games, he tied the league lead in interceptions with 15, a career high. Additionally, the 30-year-old logged a 59.9 QBR, the second-lowest figure in his career.

The Cowboys made a coaching change to reduce Prescott's turnovers, letting head coach Mike McCarthy assume playcalling. However, some believe the Dallas offense could falter under him.

"I have serious questions about what the Cowboys are going to do system-wise," Barber said. "Mike McCarthy is gonna be calling the plays. I know there's an up and down resume with that, whether it was really good when he won a championship with Green Bay, or when it was really bad and he handed playcalling over to Edgar Bennett."

It's fair to wonder about Prescott's trajectory, yet Jones hasn't proved he's the better player. In four seasons, the sixth overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft has made no Pro Bowls and is 1-6 against Dallas. In seven seasons, Prescott, a fourth-round pick in 2016, has made two Pro Bowls and is 10-2 against the Giants.

Jones must win more games against the NFC East rival to validate supporters' claims and surpass Prescott.
