The New York Jets' offense could use a fast receiver with ability to stretch the field and an old friend is now available to help them.

Wide receiver Robbie Chosen, signed by the Jets as Robby Anderson following the 2016 NFL Draft, was waived by the Miami Dolphins on Thursday after appearing in four games this season. His lone reception was a 68-yard touchdown in the 70-20 victory over the Denver Broncos on September 24.

With the Jets' pass game in need of a jolt, Jets' head coach Robert Saleh answered a question about exploring the possibility of bringing Chosen back to his original NFL team.

""I know [general manager] Joe [Douglas] will always turn over every stone," said Saleh on Friday. "I know he [Chosen] can flat-out roll. Pretty sure he got us for one in Carolina, our first year."

In the 2021 season opener, Saleh's inaugural game as head coach, Chosen went 57 yards for a Carolina touchdown in the Panthers' 19-14 victory over the Jets.

"He can roll, he’s got a speed element. He’s got a fastball and whenever a player has a fastball, he’s always worth talking about," said Saleh.

Chosen, who went undrafted out of Temple, has been clocked at 4.36s in the 40-yard dash and posted a 14.8 yards per reception average over four season in Green & White.

As for the 2023 Jets, they have only five passing touchdowns through nine games. Quarterback Zach Wilson has only one TD pass over his past five appearances and it was a 50-yard screen play to running back Breece Hall in Week 8.

Chosen possess multiple intriguing traits, but the 30-year-old hasn't been a consistent producer since 2020 when he gained 1,096 yards receiving for the Carolina Panthers. Between the Dolphins, the Panthers and the Arizona Cardinals, Chosen has been on three different teams in 1.5 seasons. Through 62 career games with the Jets, the once highly-regarded receiver 207 catches for 3,059 yards and 20 touchdowns.

It's worth monitoring whether or not the Jets invite Chosen for a workout this upcoming Tuesday.
