Heading into the 2024 season, the Pittsburgh Steelers face a significant uncertainty at the quarterback position, which is arguably the most crucial position on the team.

Following a promising debut season, Kenny Pickett‘s performance took a notable downturn in his second year, raising questions about his future with the team.

Recently, Rick Spielman, former general manager of the Minnesota Vikings and current analyst at The 33rd Team, weighed in on Pickett’s prospects with the Steelers.

According to Spielman, indications suggest that Pickett, the former 20th overall pick, is likely to assume the starting role for the team in the upcoming season.

“What I’m thinking is and what you’ve been reading out there is they’re all in on Kenny Pickett. So don’t expect the Pittsburgh Steelers to go up and trade for one of the big three quarterbacks in this draft or be very active in free agency signing a Kirk Cousins or maybe trading for Justin Fields. I think they’re going to go with Kenny Pickett, see if they can develop him under Arthur Smith in this new power style offense that the Pittsburgh Steelers are going to run.”

During the previous season, Pickett saw action in 12 games for the Steelers but struggled, managing only six touchdown passes before being replaced by backup Mason Rudolph following an injury.

While there were glimpses of promise during the final nine weeks of the 2022 season, the upcoming year looms as a pivotal juncture for Kenny Pickett’s tenure with the Pittsburgh Steelers, with his performance likely to determine his future with the franchise.
