The Baltimore Ravens were linked with Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry ahead of November’s NFL trade deadline.
Baltimore was reportedly the "team most interested" in pushing to acquire Henry, but in the end, the three-time Pro Bowler ended up staying put with the Titans. There was a belief that the price to haul in the veteran running back "was just too steep."
Henry is set to become a free agent for the first time in his career in March. Former NFL MVP award winner Shaun Alexander wants the best for Henry in free agency. Alexander, who starred at Alabama, is hoping that Henry will sign with a Super Bowl contender, and he would not mind seeing the former Crimson Tide star put pen to paper on a free agent deal with the Ravens.
"I want him to go somewhere where he can win a championship," Alexander said on FanDuel TV’s “Up & Adams" show. "If you love somebody, you want them to have the one thing that you didn’t have, and I want him to have that.
"If the Ravens run the ball, I wouldn't be scared of him to go to Baltimore."
The Ravens were the lone team in the regular season this year that tallied more rush plays (541) than pass plays (531).
Baltimore could end up seeing quite a bit of turnaround at the running back position in the coming months, especially as J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards each will be out of a contract in March.
