Former Pro Bowl receiver has strong take on pair of NFC East quarterbacks

When the New York Giants signed quarterback Daniel Jones to a four-year, $160 million contract in mid-March, many questioned whether he deserved to be the seventh-highest paid QB in the NFL.

But former Green Bay Packers receiver Greg Jennings believes Jones is worth his enormous contract and that the former Duke signal-caller already one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL. Jennings also sees plenty of developmental runway ahead for the signal-caller.

Daniel Jones is a top-10 quarterback,” Jennings said on a recent appearance of “The Carton Show” on FS1. “I said it, and I say it with my chest. …The progression is there. When we see guys progressing, we automatically want them to do it the way that Joe Burrow has done it, the way Justin Herbert has done it."

"That wasn’t Daniel Jones, and that’s OK because he’s gotten paid, he’s going to keep his head down, he’s going to continue to work. You bring in a guy like Darren Waller…Daniel Jones’ production will continue to improve.”

Jennings’ bold claims didn’t stop there, however.

The former Super Bowl champion maintained that Jones is not only better than two-thirds of the starting quarterbacks in the NFL, but has also ascended past another $140 million signal caller. This one an NFC East rival.

“He will be the second-best quarterback in his division behind Jalen Hurts,” Jennings added. “He’s better than Dak Prescott.”

For comparison, Jones has never made a Pro Bowl, has never thrown for more than 3,205 yards or 24 touchdowns in a season and holds a career passer rating of 86.5. Prescott, on the flip side, is a two-time Pro Bowler, won the Rookie of the Year award in 2016, has thrown for 3,300 or more yards in five seasons, has thrown for 30 or more touchdowns in two seasons two and holds a career passer rating of 97.8.
