Former Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Greg Roman is making his return to the NFL.

Roman has agreed to become the new offensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Chargers, according to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Roman takes over for Kellen Moore, who lasted a mere one season as Chargers offensive coordinator.

Roman will reunite with Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh. He served as offensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers for four years -- all of which came during Harbaugh’s head coaching run with the NFC West side.

Roman’s last run as offensive coordinator in the NFL came with the Ravens. He held the role for four seasons, including Baltimore’s historic 2019 campaign. The Ravens led the NFL in both points per game (33.2) and rushing yards per game (206.0) in the season, as not many defenses had much of an answer for Roman's run heavy scheme.

The Ravens parted ways with Roman following the 2022 season. It did not take long for them to find a replacement for the longtime offensive-minded coach, as they later brought in now-former George offensive coordinator Todd Monken to fill the vacancy.

The Roman-led Chargers offense will be put to the test quite a bit over the course of the 2024 campaign. For one, the Chargers are scheduled to host the Ravens for a regular season contest this year.
