Former teammate James Jones thinks Aaron Rodgers will return to Packers

Disgruntled Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is now officially holding out during mandatory minicamp amid reports he wishes to be traded, and neither head coach Matt LaFleur nor any of Rodgers' current teammates have been able to offer Green Bay fans much hope that the reigning NFL Most Valuable Player will return to the club anytime soon.

However, former Packers wide receiver James Jones explained during Tuesday's edition of "The Herd with Colin Cowherd" he believes Rodgers will give the organization at least one more season and that the supposed beef between the future Hall of Famer and general manager Brian Gutekunst isn't as significant as some think.

"I truly believe that he will be there for training camp, this will get fixed, and I think the relationship will get much better between him and the GM," Jones said, per Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk.

Jones added Rodgers is mostly upset the Packers cut ties with individuals such as wide receivers Jake Kumerow and Jordy Nelson, and the QB's biggest issue "is a private conversation on the phone that I can’t share with you."

"I’ve talked to Aaron. I talk to him all the time," Jones said during his conversation with Cowherd.

Rodgers remains signed through 2023 and turns 38 years old in December, so logic suggests the best outcome for all involved is that he gives his current employer one more year of service before orchestrating a trade next offseason.
