Four NFL players besides Bills' Josh Allen who are underperforming

Josh Allen's three turnovers in the Buffalo Bills' 24-22 loss to the Denver Broncos on "Monday Night Football" marked another poor performance in a down year for him. The star quarterback, however, isn't alone in his struggles. Here are four other players who are underperforming this season:

WR Calvin Ridley | Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars acquired Ridley from the Falcons at last season's trade deadline with the hope he could cement himself as one of quarterback Trevor Lawrence's favorite targets. Ten weeks into the season, however, the 28-year-old has become an afterthought in the offense.

Ridley began the season on a high note, reeling in eight catches for 101 yards and a touchdown against the Colts. But since that breakout performance, he is averaging 3.4 catches a game and has only eclipsed 100 yards receiving once.

Jacksonville may be hesitant to extend Ridley, who is in the final year of his contract if he continues to underperform. The conditional 2024 fourth-round pick they gave to the Falcons for Ridley (35 catches, 471 yards) will become a second-round pick if the Jaguars sign him to an extension.

RB Miles Sanders | Carolina Panthers

Sanders earned himself a nice payday this past offseason, signing the largest contract among free-agent running backs at four years, $25.4M. The expensive acquisition is one that the Panthers likely regret.

Chuba Hubbard is now the starter at running back, with Sanders being demoted due to his lack of production (71 carries, 224 yards). The latter is averaging a measly 3.2 yards per carry this season, well below his career average of 4.9 and tied for third worst in the NFL. He only has 10 carries in his past three games.

RB Tony Pollard | Dallas Cowboys

The departure of Ezekiel Elliott seemingly opened the door for Pollard to become an elite starting running back after years of serving as a No. 2. Instead, he hasn't had the season many envisioned (135 carries, 529 yards).

Pollard, who had ankle surgery in the offseason, has struggled mightily to score, with his last touchdown coming in Dallas' season opener. He has only one game over 100 rushing yards this season and has not had a big impact in the passing game (29 catches, 190 yards).

With the Cowboys' passing game clicking and QB Dak Prescott playing well, Pollard's role may not increase.

WR Christian Watson | Green Bay Packers

Watson shined in his rookie season in 2022, turning into one of quarterback Aaron Rodgers' favorite targets in the red zone. In the four-time MVP's absence, however, the second-year wideout is not having nearly the same production (projected 446 yards receiving in 2023 vs. 611 in 2022).

With Jordan Love the QB in Green Bay, Watson has yet to eclipse three catches in a game this season. He has one touchdown catch after grabbing seven last season. Worst of all, the North Dakota State University product ranks last in the NFL among all wide receivers in catch percentage at 42.42, per Next Gen Stats
