Already signing one Jonah Williams in free agency, there is a real possibility that the Arizona Cardinals can sign yet another NFL player who shares the same exact name.

According to KPRC 2 Houston reporter Aaron Wilson on X (formerly Twitter), defensive lineman Jonah Williams has a visit set with the Cardinals on Tuesday.

“Visiting [the Minnesota] Vikings today, free agent defensive lineman Jonah Williams [is] scheduled to visit [the Arizona] Cardinals on Tuesday,” Wilson said. “Fluid situation with interest from multiple NFL teams.”

Depth, Depth, Depth

After graduating high school, Williams played college football at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah. As a four-year starter for the Wildcats, Williams was a three-time Big Sky Conference champion (2017-19), the 2019 Big Sky Defensive Player of the Year, two-time first-team All-Big Sky (2018-19) electee and named into the second-team All-Big Sky (2017).

Because of his success in college, the Los Angeles Rams signed him in 2020, as an undrafted free agent.

But since joining the NFL, the 28-year-old has had a turbulent career with bumps along the way.

During final roster cuts, the Rams waived him before signing to their practice squad.

Beginning the 2021 NFL season, Williams did make Los Angeles’ 53-man roster out of training camp and played eight games, but was eventually waived again on Nov. 3, 2021.

The Minnesota Vikings claimed the 6-foot-5, 275-pounder the next day. Because of a failed physical, however, he was waived again a day later.

In a turn of events, the Rams signed Williams again to another practice squad contract. By being with Los Angeles, he became a Super Bowl LVI champion as his team beat the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20.

Overall, the Idaho native has played 41 games (22 starts) as a Ram in three seasons (2021-23). He recorded 2.5 sacks, 77 tackles and defended one pass so far in the NFL.

If Williams does sign with Arizona, he would be their third defensive line addition this free agency along with Khyiris Tonga, Bilal Nichols and Justin Jones. The Cards also have Phil Hoskins, Ben Stille, Roy Lopez, Dante Stills and Naquan Jones. Arizona re-signed L.J. Collier last week.

Jonathan Ledbetter remains unsigned, and Leki Fotu left to sign with the New York Jets.
