K.J. Wright could see himself playing for the Cowboys, but would Dallas want to sign him? Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Free-agent LB K.J. Wright has Cowboys on his list of 'dream teams'

Veteran linebacker K.J. Wright raised eyes in late February when he said that Seattle Seahawks starting quarterback Russell Wilson "isn't going anywhere" despite trade rumors linking Wilson with a potential exit from the club this offseason. The irony, of course, is that Wright is a free agent who hasn't yet put pen to paper on a deal with Seattle or any other team.

The one-time Pro Bowler who previously suggested he wouldn't offer the Seahawks any type of hometown discount told Mike Fisher of SI.com he could see himself playing for the Dallas Cowboys next fall.

"Dallas has certainly always been on my list of 'dream teams,'" Wright explained. "With coach Dan Quinn there, and with other aspects of that team and that defense, I do think it's one of the teams I fit in with."

Wright played under Quinn, Dallas' new defensive coordinator, in Seattle and called the coach a "defensive mastermind.''

Wright turns 32 this summer but, as Pro Football Focus pointed out, has remained a productive defensive asset. "He finished the regular season with the eighth-best overall grade among linebackers at 75.3," PFF said of Wright. The site predicted he'll sign a two-year contract worth $12 million with $6 million total guaranteed and $5 million fully guaranteed at signing.

"I haven't made any decisions yet,'' Wright told Fisher. "But it's a big one — and I'm looking forward to the future.''
