The New York Giants have activated quarterback Tyrod Taylor off injured reserve ahead of their Monday night game against the Green Bay Packers.

Taylor, who suffered a rib cage injury in the team's Week 8 overtime loss to the New York Jets, had his 21-day window opened last Tuesday. Taylor was able to participate in the full practice sessions, and the expectation all along was that he would be activated to the 53-man roster, especially after the team waived quarterback Matt Barkley from the roster--he has since re-signed with the practice squad--to open a roster spot for Taylor.

Taylor has appeared in seven games this season with three starts, logging a 1-2 record. He's completed 57 of 87 pass attempts for 579 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions.

However, Taylor, who had been filling in for starter Daniel Jones (ACL), was Wally Pipped by Tommy DeVito, who has a 2-1 record in his last three starts. Head coach Brian Daboll decided to stick with DeVito as the team's starter since he's the hot hand, making that announcement on Tuesday.

"I think Tommy’s done a good job; he’s improved in each of the games he’s played," Daboll said, announcing his decision. "I thought he played well the last two games, made good decisions, was accurate with the football, and earned the right to play."
