Giants' Daniel Jones named a 'legitimate' fantasy football starting QB

Quarterback Daniel Jones may be able to guide more than just the New York Giants to wins from the final Sunday of October through the middle of next month. 

On Tuesday, CBS Sports' Heath Cummings named Jones "a legitimate starting option" for fantasy football lineups across at least New York's contests at the Seattle Seahawks this Sunday, versus the Houston Texans in Week 10 and against the Detroit Lions in Week 11. The Giants have a bye in Week 9. 

"This week, he faces a Seahawks defense that has allowed the 10th-most FPPG to QBs" Cummings explained about Jones' fantasy status. "He faces a Texans defense that actually hasn't been a great matchup for QBs, but probably because they've only faced one top-10 QB all year, and he scored 24.5 fantasy points...Jones (then) faces a Lions defense that has allowed the eighth-most FPPG." 

Cummings added there are real reasons to believe Jones could play his best football, to date, over his next three outings. 

"Jones ranks as QB15 on a per-game basis and has produced multiple touchdowns in four of seven games, including three of his last four," Cummings pointed out. "His passing numbers suggest he's starting to get a better grip on (head coach) Brian Daboll's offense, with Jones averaging at least 7.4 yards per attempt in each of his last three games. Most importantly, Jones ranks third amongst all quarterbacks in rushing yards per game at 49 yards per game." 

According to ESPN stats, Jones is third behind Baltimore Ravens star Lamar Jackson (510) and Justin Fields of the Chicago Bears (364) among quarterbacks with 343 total rushing yards this season. New York's QB1 has also scored three rushing touchdowns to go along with his six touchdowns through the air. 

While the Giants are 30th with an overall average of 160.9 passing yards per game, Jones may be on the cusp of bolstering his numbers if individuals high on him ahead of Halloween such as Cummings are correct with their assessments.
