Unless you’re Malik Nabers, the pressure to deliver for Mother’s Day just increased. The New York Giants rookie first-rounder shared on Friday that he purchased a new home for his mom last week. Nabers signed a four-year contract that’s worth $29.2 million, which is fully guaranteed, on Friday.

“That was the most important thing in my life, having her have her own house and feel comfortable and not having to worry about bills to pay,” Nabers told reporters at rookie minicamp. “And know that her little boy did it for her.”

Nabers’ rookie contract includes a signing bonus of $18.062 million. As a first-round pick, he has a fifth-year option in his contract that allows the Giants to hold on to him through the 2028 season. New York can exercise his fifth-year option after he’s played his third season in the league.

Leading up to the 2024 NFL Draft, during which the Giants selected Nabers with the No. 6 overall pick in the first round, his mother recorded a message for him via the Player’s Tribune. It’s clear the two have a special relationship.

Nabers signs with Giants after first-round selection

A Louisiana native, Nabers caught a combined 189 passes over three seasons at LSU, totaling 3,000 yards and 21 touchdowns. His 3,003 career receiving yards are the most in LSU history. He was only the second Tigers receiver to top 3,000 career receiving yards. His 189 catches also set a new program record.

Nabers produced the bulk of his jaw-dropping numbers this past season when he notched career-bests of 89 receptions for 1,569 yards and 14 TDs. Further, the former four-star prospect boasted 17.6 yards per catch.

For his 2023 campaign, Nabers earned unanimous All-American, First-Team All-SEC nods from the AP and SEC Coaches. He was also a finalist 2023 Biletnikoff Award, missing out on the trophy by a single vote to Ohio State’s Marvin Harrison Jr.

After wearing No. 8 for the Tigers, the rookie wideout will sport the No. 9 jersey for the Giants.
