Giants’ Jabrill Peppers lost for season with torn ACL

The New York Giants won't be trading safety Jabrill Peppers before next Tuesday's deadline to do so, but the 26-year-old likely has played his last game with the organization.

As Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post explained, Peppers will miss the rest of the season because of the torn ACL he suffered in this past Sunday's 25-3 win over the Carolina Panthers that improved Big Blue to 2-5 on the year. Peppers is New York's third co-captain to have his campaign prematurely end because of an injury setback before Halloween, along with linebacker Blake Martinez and offensive lineman Nick Gates.

Peppers also has a high ankle sprain.

Peppers joined the Giants via the blockbuster 2019 trade that included Big Blue sending star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to the Cleveland Browns, a transaction that has thus far has delivered no real long-term benefits for either club. In six games this season, Peppers had 30 tackles, a sack and a pass breakup.

He notched that sack during the Carolina game before his injury.

Peppers is set to hit free agency in March and, thus, had repeatedly been mentioned in trade rumors before Tuesday's development.

"I just want to win, baby. I want to make plays, go out there and win ball games," Peppers said last week about his future, according to Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk.
